The beautiful Trenance Gardens are about a 20-minute walk from Crest Court, and we often go via Trenance to The Gannel with Mr Pringle. If 20 minutes with small children sounds too far, then the Land Train is a great alternative. Once you’re there, you can spend the entire day enjoying the various attractions on offer.
Newquay Land Train
Newquay Land Train
Operating on a circular route that takes in Trenance Gardens, the Zoo, Narrowcliff, Town Centre, and Mount Wise, this is a great way to see the town and get your bearings. Tickets are bought on the train and are available for all-day or part journey. The nearest stop to the apartment is just outside the back gate. Turn left past Sprout and turn left again; it’s just by the Church (20 yards). The train operates during the season and at Christmas.

Newquay Zoo, Wild Planet Trust
Newquay Zoo, Wild Planet Trust
From lions, lemurs, and lynxes to meerkats, marmosets, and monkeys, you are never too far away from a little animal magic at Newquay Zoo.
For those of you of a certain age, I’m sure you can understand why those are the Zoo’s words, not mine. – John Morris.
Apart from the animals, there are plenty of other things to see and do, including The Tropical House, The Oriental Garden, Gems Of The Jungle, The Secret Garden, and outdoor play areas.
If all that has left you feeling hungry, head to Cafe Lemur, or if you fancy a takeaway, The Lazy Lion Grill could be for you. Ice cream? Meerkat Munchies is where you need to be.
The Zoo is fun, but it has a serious side. The Wild Planet Trust is involved in many different aspects of conservation, from marine plastics to sustainable palm oil via carbon footprint reduction and many other vitally important ecological issues.
Support the Zoo, and you are helping to support the planet.

Little Western Railway
Little Western Railway
The Little Western Railway is the oldest miniature railway in Cornwall and is an incredibly friendly attraction. The kids will love it, and let’s be honest, so will the adults. It’s located near the tennis courts, next to a children’s adventure playground. Prices are very reasonable, so multiple rides are an affordable option.

The Newquay Crazy Golf course is set in stunning, landscaped gardens and offers 18 holes of miniature golf. While some may argue that golf is a good walk spoiled, I think this course is a lot of fun. Give it a go, and I’m sure you’ll have a good laugh.
