The Harbour Fish And Grill

The Harbour Fish And Grill

Restaurants

You’re in a dog friendly apartment, above a dog friendly beach, in a dog friendly town, do you want to eat your fish and chips out of paper on a bench on Killacourt? If you do that’s a great choice and one that we have made ourselves but it’s not your only option. For something a little more sophisticated  may we suggest you ring Aaron Janes and book a table for you and your dog. Its one of our favourite restaurants.

If you do decide to book please tell them if you are bringing a dog, as they have two rooms, one is for people who don’t like dogs!!!
Overlooking the harbour and with views across 7 beautiful beaches this is something not to be missed.

Aaron`s philosophy is keep it simple but elegant and when working with the great fish that we have in Newquay, this means you are in for something a little special. Try Spider Crab Claws, and Gremolata Butter to start or make a meal of Roast Pollock, Shellfish Mash, Piperade, Mussel and Chorizo Flamand. Not quite full ? Orange Brioche Pudding and Clotted Cream.

Aaron is one of our local celebrities, having appeared on TV but more importantly headlining in the Newquay Fish Festival and in raising funds for the RNLI.

You’re on holiday treat yourself to some real food cooked by a respected chef.

Bush Pepper

5/5

Australia meets Cornwall at Bush Pepper but don`t expect lots of novelty dishes on the menu it is an  influence from down under not a take over bid.

Bush Pepper has  a sophisticated  menu with only a brief nod to the British idea of  Australian  cuisine.

Kangaroo steaks are there as is damper but so is  wild mushroom linguine with chilli cream, tempura oyster mushrooms , pangrattato, parmesan and lemon.  They also do small and large plates so  you can have a Tapas style meal  if you prefer.

Perhaps you should stick to the small plate anyway. The home made dessert menu is a bit special and should not be missed because you have over indulged on your main course.

The drinks menu is the only place you will find a majority of Australian items but with the modern Australian wines being so good that is hardly surprising!

Lots of gluten free and vegan options available.

The Boathouse

5/5
Restaurants

The Boathouse is a relaxed street food market in Newquay Harbour, offering fresh Cornish seafood and a varied selection of global fare. Behind the bar they serve a menu of Cornish lager & Cider, good wines, lovely cocktails and barista coffee plus a delicious selection of chilled soft drinks.

They don’t take bookings so just go down and find a table on their covered decking, converted lobster tanks, outside seating or one of their picnic tables on the beach. All food is served in recyclable takeaway boxes so you’re welcome to bring a picnic blanket and get set up on the beach in our beautiful harbour.

Personally i think this is a great idea allowing lots of diverse foods to be served to you in a relaxed setting. Eating on the beach like this is a luxury that you have to experience.

One of our more laid back restaurants that fits in perfectly with beach culture.

The Fish House Fistral

The Fish House Fistral

Restaurants

You’re at the sea side, fish restaurants are going to be high on the agenda. With so much great fish readily available, Newquay is bound to attract some top fish chefs.

Paul Harwood is a case in point. 25 years in Cornwall has made him a keen surfer, 14 years working with Rick Stein in Padstow has honed his skills as a seafood specialist. Call in at lunch for an open fish finger sandwich or Cornish crab with homemade mayonnaise.

Dog friendly at lunch time, and with great views of the famous Fistral beach, it’s definitely a treat that you should try.

In the evening try Balinese skewered monkfish, or an Indian fish curry. You could go for a rib eye steak, but with all this super fresh fish I personally would think it a lost opportunity.

One of the best fish restaurants you will find.

Kahuna

5/5
Restaurants

The husband and wife team at Kahuna have been working in restaurants for thirteen years and consistently deliver high quality, Pan Asian food. Inspired by their travels throughout the world, Ryan and Kelly have developed their own style of Asian menu.

If you enjoyed a meal last year and are hoping to order the same again, then there could be a problem as the menu changes frequently to ensure it is the best available option.
Kahuna don’t have “the vegetarian option” they have a range of great food much of which comes as a vegetarian or vegan option.

If you are ordering a takeaway, remember to quote code: “KAHUNAKIDS” (kids eat free).
Have a look at the deserts menu, it’s a bit special.

The basics for a good restaurant are simple . Great produce well cooked and you have a winning formula. At Butchers Bistro they understand this which is why the fish is Cornish The Meat is Cornish and much of the bar stock is also made in Cornwall.
