Fistral Beach Newquay Guides
Fistral Beach

Billed as the home of British surfing Fistral Beach has a massive reputation to live up to. On the days when the surf is up and the sun is out it is easy to see how it got that reputation.
The days of a wooden shack on the beach have gone forever to be replaced by big-name restaurants and fashion outlets. It may not suit the purists in the surfing fraternity but it makes for a fantastic experience for the rest of us. All the surf schools and surf hire are still here, the place still has a great atmosphere, and it’s still the beach all surfers want to catch a wave.
As you would expect at a major tourist destination, all the facilities you need are here, Bar, restaurants, cafes, takeaway, retail outlets, toilet facilities, showers, a car park, sand chair hire, surf hire, and surf schools. Most importantly from Easter to the end of October, there is R.N.L.I. Lifeguard cover on the beach

Restaurants

ou’re at the seaside, fish restaurants are going to be high on the agenda. With so much great fish readily available, Newquay is bound to attract some top fish chefs. Paul Harwood is a case in point. 25 years in Cornwall has made him a keen surfer, and 14 years working with Rick Stein in Padstow has honed his skills as a seafood specialist. Call in at lunchtime for an open fish finger sandwich or Cornish crab with homemade mayonnaise.
Dog friendly at lunchtime, and with great views of the famous Fistral beach, it’s a treat that you should try.
In the evening try Balinese skewered monkfish or Indian fish curry. You could go for a rib eye steak, but with all these super fresh fish I would think it a lost opportunity.

Dog friendly at all times, they don`t take bookings but turn round times are quite good and you can always go eat on the beach at busy times.
Did we mention the view? I guess it`s pretty good

5/5

Coasteering isn’t for the faint-hearted, but for those who have a bit of courage, the rewards are staggering. It sounds simple, all you have to do is get around a section of the coast on rocks and in the sea, but this is an adrenaline-fuelled epic adventure. Usually, 3 hours long and with all your safety equipment included, together with links to photographs and videos at the end to prove to yourself you really did it. As with most new skills, it’s simple if you have the right teacher. Coasteering with Bare Feet is a fantastic value activity at £45 for 3 hours and with the links to photographs and videos included.
All guides are qualified RLSS or NARS Lifeguards trained in water rescue and first aid, so you are in safe hands.
