Take away often means a multi national operation providing fast food . We have that type of take away in Newquay but we have another type as well. We have high quality independent outlets serving up top quality food . I love to cook so this list isn’t anywhere near exhaustive. Please let me know your favourites.
Gusto

Did you notice people queuing up some steps as you went down the ramp to Towan beach ? That was probably for Gusto. Specialising in fresh and healthy food made to their own recipes.Everything is cooked from scratch and that shows through in the quality of the finished meal. You need to take an appetite here because the portions are rightly described as hearty. Slow cooked meats and substantial vegan dishes coupled with home made fresh sauces form the basis of the menu.
Grab a box to eat on the beach , take on to Killacourt or back to the apartment.
This is good food cooked exceptionally well and sold at reasonable prices. Does that explain the queues ?

Box and Barber

We have put the Box & Barber down as a take away because it is so popular you may not get a seat. Specialising in vegetarian meals that don’t leave the carnivores craving for meat. Box and Barber have created a reputation for great food and great coffee. Try one of the açai bowls that they offer it may change your eating habits forever.
If you are lucky enough to get a seat then its dog friendly and the two brothers who own and run it offer free WiFi.

Beach Bakery

Towan is our home beach and we can not see why you would need to leave it apart from when the tide is in or its night. Part of this view is because you can get local Cornish pasties, homemade cakes and Cornish cream teas right here. No need to go hunting down food in the town on a beautiful sunny everything you need is right here and its great quality.

Morris Pasties

First, let me say we are not related to the owners of this pastie shop, we just think they are great pasties. Hand made in St. Columb with, wherever possible, locally sourced ingredients (Peter Morris Butchers, again we aren’t related). We even like the oven, as it’s a Manc. like us. no visit to Cornwall would be complete with out a Cornish Pastie and these are some of the best, located just around the corner from the apartment.
Voted best pasties in Newquay . Trip Adviser 2022.

Maharajah Indian Restaurant
Maharajah Indian Restaurant

This is our favourite Indian Take away, not just in Newquay. The food is delicious and plentiful, we are rarely able to finish in one sitting, but we give it a good go. You have probably seen the vans around the town, we have never eaten in the restaurant section but we can definitely recommend the delivery service. Order early as they get very busy. Its been operating here for 39 years so they have to be doing something right.

Flounders

I haven’t checked but I believe it is compulsory to have fish and chips when you go on a British sea side holiday. If it’s on your “must do” list then I can’t think of a better option than Flounders. A family run, award winning business less than 300 meters from our door. Grab some of the crispy battered fish and sit and eat it on Killacourt. They even serve that great northern delicacy the Holland’s steak and kidney pudding.
There is outside and inside seating available. Home delivery available at a small charge

Mam`s

You’re not going to find this one, its tucked away at the back of Newquay, away from the tourist hot spots, but that shows that there doing something right. They will deliver to Crest Court though and if you like Thai food, you will love what they have to offer. Closed on Mondays, but open the rest of the week.
Fresh and authentic is Mam`s guiding principle but also to use local produce whenever possible. Whether you want spicy salads, stir-fry, or traditional Thai curries give them a ring, you wont be disappointed.

Kook

We love this place, especially on a hot summer day, for a cooling drink with enough body to replace food. Try one of the shakes made from your favourite chocolate bar, or go for one of the many healthy options. Alternatively, you could try their great coffee or an ice cream. Whatever you choose, we think you will be pleased with the taste and quality. The happy smile and friendly service also goes down well.
